‘Andromeda’ Beaded Necklace or Bracelet Workshop

Set forth on an adventure to Andromeda’s Galaxy!

In this workshop you will learn how to use a single focal to create an outstanding piece of beadwork that is tailored to your neck. Learn how to connect bead embroidered components, embellish edging, and adjust the fit of a larger bead embroidered piece for your personal wear.

A bracelet option will be available for those who don’t wish to make a necklace.

It is expected that you won’t finish this project in it’s entirety during the workshop however you’ll have everything you need and all the knowledge (including your tutors contact details) to finish at home if needed.

The studio will be open from 9.45am.
Please be ready to start your workshop at 10am so that you don’t miss any important information.
If you are late to class, you may be asked to wait until a suitable pause in tuition when your tutor will come and get you and catch you up so you do not interrupt the flow of the workshop.

Beading became a proper hobby for Meg when she was about 15 years old. At this time she was still stringing and remembers writing craft shopping lists to ‘buy bigger beads’ as she was jealous of the pretty bigger glass beads her sister had in her stash. Finally she caved to her subconscious and embraced those tiny beads called seed beads!
Meg is a self taught bead artist. She taught herself peyote stitch at 16, and many many stitches and techniques since then, finally discovering bead embroidery in 2011 and she has never looked back!
Meg’s biggest passion is bead embroidery, but she also greatly enjoy bead weaving and combining the two.

Skill Level:
This workshop is suitable for patient beginners and intermediate students.
Bead embroidery knowledge/experience (including peyote stitch bezels and brick stitch edging) is highly recommended. Flat spiral experience would be useful but not essential.

Cost:
$160 plus a kit fee (payable to Meg on the day) $80 neckpiece, $50 bracelet.
Kit Colourways:
– Nebula: Blue, silver, touches of purple
– Supernova: Pink, red, copper, touches of green
Please note: the focals are handmade by Meg and therefore every one will have variation in colour patterns, making your piece unique.

Extra Information Regarding COVID/Illness:
We ask that you remember that we are a small business run by someone with chronic illnesses. Many of our visitors are also immune compromised. Please do not visit the studio if you are unwell in any way. Thank you for your understanding.

•  All our Tutors are experienced in teaching and have many years of experience working with their respective mediums/in their field of expertise – for most of our tutors this is over 15 years experience.
• Our workshop sizes are small with no more than 12 students.
• We provide a friendly, inviting space and cater for many challenges you may face  (health issues, food intolerances, anxiety, etc.). Many of our students (and some of our tutors) suffer from chronic illness and have special needs. If you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to Dani who will do her best to help you out;
• We use only high quality materials/products in our workshops and myself and our Tutors are familiar with how these work and can give you accurate information/answers to your questions;
• Students are able to browse our 1500+ products and purchase if they wish to either before, during or after their workshop;
• We offer payment plan options on most workshops as we understand that finances can be tight (please email if you’d like to take advantage of this);
• We offer a workshop Loyalty Program – receive one stamp per half day workshop and two stamps for a full day – when you collect 10 stamps, your loyalty card turns into a $50 voucher!
• We are fully insured and there is always someone on site who has a Level 2 first aid qualification and asthma management training. All tutors who are working with children have current, valid Working with Children Checks.
• We offer ‘after workshop’ support for all our students. Students can ask questions of our tutors and refresh any information they need to after the workshop via email, phone or in our Facebook group especially for students.
