‘Basic Watercolour Techniques | Focus on Gum Leaves’ Workshop

In this brand new, gentle, hands-on workshop students will explore the foundations of watercolour in a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere led by Clare from Tog & Pini.

The lesson will focus on;

• Understanding papers, brushes & paints (what matters, what doesn’t)
• Wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques
• Creating soft blends, blooms and textures
• Layering and glazing without “overworking”
• Simple gum leaves / as playful practice

Participants will:

• Gain confidence with brushes, water control and colour mixing
• Build a mini “technique library”
• Complete a small gum leaf study to take home

This workshop is a great introduction to Clare’s Native Birds in Watercolour workshop also being held on the same day.
Book into this session alone or come for both and enjoy a day of painting and learning.

The studio will be open from 9.45am.
Please be ready to start your workshop at 10am so that you don’t miss any important information.
If you are late to class, you may be asked to wait until a suitable pause in tuition when your tutor will come and get you and catch you up so you do not interrupt the flow of the workshop.

Clare Dunstan of Tog & Pini
Clare’s artistic practice is rooted in her love for animals and storytelling, which inspires her art. She have been working as an artist in a professional capacity for the past 15 years and has enjoyed exhibiting throughout Victoria and posting work across the globe. Watercolour is her ‘go to’ medium. She loves its fluid quality and how it behaves – sometimes unexpectedly – on the paper. She also enjoy making sculptures from mixed media, and found objects. Clare works from her home studio in leafy Research, Victoria, where her days are shared with her family and her menagerie of pets.

Skill Level:
This workshop has been designed for beginners but all skill levels are welcome to attend!
Students need to be 16+ to attend.

Cost:
$75 all inclusive.

Extra Information Regarding COVID/Illness:
We ask that you remember that we are a small business run by someone with chronic illnesses. Many of our visitors are also immune compromised. Please do not visit the studio if you are unwell in any way. Thank you for your understanding.

•  All our Tutors are experienced in teaching and have many years of experience working with their respective mediums/in their field of expertise – for most of our tutors this is over 15 years experience.
• Our workshop sizes are small with no more than 12 students.
• We provide a friendly, inviting space and cater for many challenges you may face  (health issues, food intolerances, anxiety, etc.). Many of our students (and some of our tutors) suffer from chronic illness and have special needs. If you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to Dani who will do her best to help you out;
• We use only high quality materials/products in our workshops and myself and our Tutors are familiar with how these work and can give you accurate information/answers to your questions;
• Students are able to browse our 1500+ products and purchase if they wish to either before, during or after their workshop;
• We offer payment plan options on most workshops as we understand that finances can be tight (please email if you’d like to take advantage of this);
• We offer a workshop Loyalty Program – receive one stamp per half day workshop and two stamps for a full day – when you collect 10 stamps, your loyalty card turns into a $50 voucher!
• We are fully insured and there is always someone on site who has a Level 2 first aid qualification and asthma management training. All tutors who are working with children have current, valid Working with Children Checks.
• We offer ‘after workshop’ support for all our students. Students can ask questions of our tutors and refresh any information they need to after the workshop via email, phone or in our Facebook group especially for students.
