‘Make, Paint and Glaze’ Ceramic Hand Building Workshop

$130.00 $260.00

Join Amanda from Everyday Clay for a fun and relaxing 2-session ceramic hand-building workshop!

Held across a fortnight, Amanda will introduce you to the basics of making, painting and glazing your very own pottery without the need for a wheel. Whether you’re a novice or have some clay experience, all are welcome in this hands-on workshop designed to guide you through the entire ceramic process, from start to finish.

Workshop Session 1: Sink your hands into soft clay and learn to pinch, coil and slab to create basic forms such as plates, mugs, bowls, and more – the sky’s the limit! Following a live art demonstration, you’ll have time to freely create your own individual pieces, with support and feedback from Amanda as needed. Your pieces will be taken back to Amanda’s studio at the end of Session 1 and fired in her studio kiln, in preparation for painting and glazing during Session 2.

Workshop Session 2: Return to the studio for an opportunity to paint and glaze the pieces that you made during Session 1. This is an exciting part of the handmade process that allows personal touches of colour, style and vibrancy to be added to your pieces. Choose from a handpicked selection of Everyday Clay studio paints and glazes, and begin exploring their applications to achieve various decorative effects.

After Session 2, your handmade pieces will be fired a second time and ready for collection from Whimsical Creatives in approximately 2-3 weeks.

Dates & Times:
Session 1 – Saturday 25th October  10.00am until 1.00pm

What to Bring:

  • You might like to bring an apron or wear an old shirt to keep your clothes clean, although any clay marks on skin and clothing will easily wash off with water.
  • Please also ensure that your nails are trimmed for Session 1, as long nails often get in the way of good clay play.
  • Notebook/Pen/Pencil if you would like to take notes.

If you would like to book a position for this class, you can do so online (preferred, so we all have a copy of the transaction) or call Dani on 0412 662 179. Once you have booked in, you will receive a manual ‘Confirmation of Booking’ email approximately a week before the workshop which will include a booking reminder plus all the information you need for this workshop (you may need to check your spam or promotions folder as sometimes they end up in there!).

Why Do a Workshop with Us?
Here’s what makes us different from other creative spaces.

  •  All our Tutors are experienced in teaching and have many years of experience working with their respective mediums/in their field of expertise – for most of our tutors this is over 15 years experience.
  • Our workshop sizes are small with usually no more than 12 students.
  • We provide a friendly, inviting space and cater for many challenges you may face  (health issues, food intolerances, anxiety, etc.). Many of our students (and some of our tutors) suffer from chronic illness and have special needs. If you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to Dani who will do her best to help you out;
  • We use only high quality materials/products in our workshops and myself and our Tutors are familiar with how these work and can give you accurate information/answers to your questions;
  • Students are able to browse our 1500+ products and purchase if they wish to either before, during or after their workshop;
  • We offer payment plan options on most workshops as we understand that finances can be tight (please email if you’d like to take advantage of this);
  • We are fully insured and there is always someone on site who has a Level 2 first aid qualification and asthma management training. All tutors who are working with children have current, valid Working with Children Checks.
  • We offer ‘after workshop’ support for all our students. Students can ask questions of our tutors and refresh any information they need to after the workshop via email, phone or in our Facebook group especially for students.
