‘Mokume Gane Hollow Polymer Pods’ Polymer Clay Workshop

28 June @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

In this fun workshop, Dani will show you firstly how to create a basic mokume gane veneer and then how to create these beautiful hollow pod beads using your new veneer/pattern sheet.

Mokume Gane is an ancient Japanese metalworking technique, meaning ‘wood eye’ or ‘wood grain’, by which layers of contrasting colored metals are fused together with heat and pressure and worked to produce a patterned mixed-metal sheet.

Polymer clay artists have taken this technique and applied it to their medium. There are many different ways to achieve a mokume gane look in polymer clay – Dani will show you her tried and true, layering technique which produces some beautiful results.

Please note, jewellery construction (ie. making necklaces etc.) and polymer clay finishing techniques are not covered in this workshop, but time permitting we may be able to go through the basics of stringing a necklace.

If you would like to use this as a mokume gane workshop technique workshop only (and not create the pods), you are welcome to do so.
