“Avalon Opal Flake” is an exquisite, large sized transparent flake luster with incredible bright silvery blue and green shine, like shards of a mirror, but micron thin. Over dark backgrounds, it is a brilliant shifting silver with icy blues and various tones of bright green. Over light backgrounds, it appears deep violet with accents of reds and oranges, reflecting the fore mentioned color at an angle. Amazing to layer over different colored bases! The newest of our color flakes! Great for adding bling to your nails, resin art, polymer clay, alcohol ink paintings, you name it! Treat them like gilding flake!
Lumiere Lusters™ are high temperature safe (to at least 1400F+ tested) for lampworking however they can also be used with many different low temp mediums such as paints, polymer clay, resins, nail art, etc.
They’re not just for high temp applications.
Recommended safety practice (from the wholesaler) includes wearing a dusk/respirator mask while using the flakes and powders – particularly when lampworking – and keeping them covered while not in use (to prevent them flying away!).
MSDS shows there is little health hazard such as off-gassing when used at high temps. Regardless, when using metallic oxides, it’s a good idea to have good ventilation.
However, be sure to not have any fans blowing directly at your bench as the flakes are EXTREMELY lightweight and will blow around at the slightest draft.
PLEASE NOTE: This product is filled by volume by our wholesaler not actual weight. You may get more or less depending on color/type of pigment. They are sold in this way because the flakes are extremely lightweight, bulky and fragile, and each color actually weighs differently. To manage the integrity of the brand, jars are filled up to the top in jar sizes that have been designated by industry standards.
