Missing my Art Adventures kiddos today as I’m at home with laryngitis and had to cancel our session.
I thought I’d show you what some of the older kids have been up to over the last few weeks.
Keep in mind that most of them are only 10 or 11 years old.How great do their needle felting projects look?!
Lisa and I are so proud of them 🥰We currently have around 30 students in our weekly after school Art Adventures sessions (spread over the week, not all at once!) and a waiting list on several days.We do have limited availability in our new Wednesday session so if you’ve been looking for something for your kids to do after school, why not check it out. Today is International Fibromyalgia and CFS/ME (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) Day.Chronic illness, including but not limited to Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS, has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My flares/crashes can come on quite quickly and there are also a range of symptoms that I live with every day even when I’m not in a flare such as noise and light sensitivity, gastrointestinal issues, temperature regulation, muscle and joint pain, severe fatigue, sleep dysfunction and food/chemical/medication sensitivities, just to name a few. And whilst I’m thankful I’m not bed bound every day like some, it’s certainly not easy.Whilst you do adapt to some extent, I’ve always found it hard to accept that I’ll never be able to do many of the things I want to do and whilst I do enjoy spending time on my own, the isolation that these conditions bring can be hard. Especially when you are constantly feeling left behind. From the small things that many people take for granted such as dinners and outings with friends, exercising, going on holidays, shopping and even just standing in a queue, to meeting new people, keeping a job, being financially and physically independent and having a family/children.Over the last almost 20 years, I have worked hard building Whimsical Creatives to help me have some purpose and meaning in my life and some social interaction. I am very thankful for the support I have received both online and in the studio. Through your purchases, comments, messages or workshop bookings, you are helping me in more ways than you know.For numerous reasons, it’s taken me many years to be able to speak honestly and openly about these issues but if I can help even just one person from talking about these issues, then it’s been worth it. Awareness and education are key to fighting (and living with) these conditions.
And please remember, just because you can’t physically see the wounds these conditions cause, doesn’t mean people aren’t suffering on the inside. Kindness and empathy really can make a difference.Love Dani 💗

I spent the morning with some wonderful students today teaching an Intuitive Art workshop inspired by @leannefergeusart.
A lovely way to spend Mother Day morning.Sending love to you all this Mother’s Day - a day that means many different things to everyone.
Today can be such an emotional day for many people.
I feel blessed that I still get to see my Mum every day. I couldn’t imagine my life without her as we’ve never spent more than a few days apart. I am also fortunate to have a wonderful Aunt who is also my godmother.
But there is definitely a place in my heart that is heavy, knowing I’ll never be called Mum by a human child.It’s important to me to celebrate all kinds of Mums this Mother’s Day 🌸Mums who are here with us.
Mums who are no longer with us.
Grandmas, Nannys, Omas and Nanas.
Step Mums.
Foster Mums.
Dads who are Mums.
Fur Mums.
Aunts.
Mums to Angels.
Mother Figures.
Those still waiting to be Mums.
Those who step in as Mums.
Mums by genetics and Mums by actions.
Those whose hearts break today.
