Its a busy week this week as I’m in the middle of scheduling our new workshops for next semester. One of the things I was most looking forward to when I moved into the new space last year was offering kids classes. This is something that I haven’t been able to do consistently as I just didn’t have the space.All that has changed!
I’m now offering 3 different Art Adventures sessions from ages 18 months to 16 years, have multiple kids birthday parties booked and plans for more school holiday sessions.If you’ve been looking for something for your kids to do, look no further.
We are local, Dip. Today is International Fibromyalgia and CFS/ME (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) Day.Chronic illness, including Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS, has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My flares/crashes can come on quite quickly One minute I can be travelling ok and 10 minutes later I can’t walk. There are also a range of symptoms that I live with every day even when I’m not in a flare such as noise and light sensitivity, gastrointestinal issues, temperature regulation, muscle and joint pain, severe fatigue, sleep dysfunction and food/chemical/medication sensitivities, just to name a few. And when you look well you often get vilified for ‘pretending’ or ‘faking’ your symptoms which leads to more trauma and distress.Whilst you do adapt to some extent, I’ve always found it hard to accept that I’ll never be able to do the things I want to do and whilst I do enjoy spending time on my own, the isolation that these conditions bring can be really hard. Especially when you are constantly feeling left behind. From the small things that many people take for granted such as dinners and outings with friends, exercising, going on holidays, shopping and even just standing in a queue, to meeting new people, keeping a job, being financially and physically independent and having a family/children.Over the last 18 years, I have worked hard building Whimsical Creatives to help me have some purpose and meaning in my life and some social interaction. I am SO thankful for the support I have received both online and in the studio/shop. Through your purchases, comments, messages or workshop bookings, you are helping me in more ways than you know.For numerous reasons, it’s taken me many years to be able to speak honestly and openly about these issues but if I can help even just one person from talking about these issues, then it’s been worth it.
Awareness and education are key to fighting (and living with) these conditions.
And please remember, just because you can’t physically see the wounds these conditions cause, doesn’t mean people aren’t suffering on the inside. Kindness, empathy and compassion really can make a difference.Love Dani 💗

Sending love to you all this Mother’s Day - a day that means many different things to everyone.
Today can be such an emotional day for many people.
I feel blessed every day that I get to see my Mum every day. I couldn’t imagine my life without her. I am also fortunate to have a wonderful Aunt who is also my godmother.
But there is definitely a place in my heart that is heavy, knowing I’ll never be called Mum by a human child.It’s important to me to celebrate all kinds of Mums this Mother’s Day 🌸Mums who are here with us.
Mums who are no longer with us.
Grandmas, Nannys, Omas and Nanas.
